Pope Manufacturing Company (third) is built.

1897

[1899-MLS] Built by Albert Pope, it is located at 221 Columbus Avenue. John Singer Sargent rents a top-floor studio here while working on murals for the new Boston Public Library. Subsequently becomes home to the Cahners Publishing Company, the building is converted to condominiums and the first-floor home of the Mistral Restaurant in 1997.
